COVID 19 - Management Plan


  • Most business must have a COVID-19 Safety Plan to demonstrate how they meet the health directions around the key principles of physical distancing and hygiene practices.
  • COVID-19 Safety Plans can be submitted online and must be approved by the Chief Health Officer and reviewed at least every six months to make sure the plan continues to manage any required COVID-19 safety responsibilities.
  • Any changes made to the Safety Plan must be submitted to the Chief Health Officer for approval.
  • All business must comply with the COVID-19 Safety Plan.
  • The business COVID-19 Safety Plan must be available to show to an authorised officer upon request.

  • All business with a COVID-19 Safety Plan are required to appoint a COVID Safety Supervisor.
  • COVID Safety Supervisors facilitate the implementation of their businesses COVID-19 Safety Plan and any Chief Health Officer Directions.
  • The COVID Safety Supervisor can be a person in authority such as the owner or occupier of the business or the person conducting the activity or service, or another person that the person in authority appoints such as a work health and safety officer.

  • The COVID Safety Supervisor must be able to provide evidence of their skills and knowledge upon request by an authorised officer.
  • Businesses have until 30 November 2020 to appoint and train a COVID Safety Supervisor, as this is when the CHO Direction will come into effect.
  • Environmental Health Officers and NT Police may undertake compliance checks across the NT to ensure businesses have a COVID Safety Supervisor and are complying with their COVID-19 Safety Plan.
